Frequently Asked Questions

Do you still offer wedding services?

Nope.

We are scaling back for 2024 and 2025 to allow time to recover from burnout and make this business sustainable long-term. You can find us at markets or join our Treats of the Month Club to support Gem City Bakehouse regularly or check back for preorders around different holidays.

What services do you provide?

Treats of the Month Club

There’s still plenty of space available for you to become a 2024 member of the Treats of the Month Club! This gives you access to an exclusive curated box of baked goods each month that is only available to members (so no Instagram sales with extras - those go straight to the members!). Please visit the Treats of the Month Club page to learn more and use the form at the bottom to sign up.

Markets + Pop-Ups

You’ll be able to find me almost year-round at a variety of markets and pop-ups. Please visit the Markets page to see where I’ll be.

Holiday Preorders

I’m bringing back preorders for some of the bigger holidays. Check back to see when those open!

Market Wagon

I have a storefront on Market Wagon, which is an online farmers market. My delivery days are Thursdays but I sometimes close the shop if I don’t have the time to devote to it that week. Their delivery is to all of southwest Ohio and many of my customers find me there during the slower months.

Where are you located?

I am a home-based bakery located in Kettering, Ohio. I do not publish my address since this is a home bakery and having people turn up at my house looking for cake balls then and there might be a little scary (just kidding!).

For the Treats of the Month Club members, the pickup address is provided after payment. For markets, the address is provided in the event listing.

Can you call me to review your prices?

No, I will not call you to review my prices. I am a one-person business and simply don’t have time to call people to walk them through what’s already available on this website.

Why can’t I customize your menu items for my dietary needs?

Every item on the menu has been tested numerous times before being added. I know these recipes well and know how they’ll turn out.

To add a gluten-free or dairy-free item to the menu requires more testing because the substitutions aren’t as reliable as standard flour and dairy. When I’ve tested a recipe with alternative ingredients thoroughly, I’ll add them to the menu.

I want to make sure that I’m not sacrificing taste for these baked goods, either. If it doesn’t pass a taste test every time, I won’t add it to the menu because those who can’t have gluten or dairy still deserve the best baked goods!

I have a large following on social media, can I get my order free?

I cannot accept orders in exchange for exposure or services as exposure does not pay my bills, but I am more than happy to work with local charities and organizations as time permits.

For charity and donation inquiries:

If you’re working with a nonprofit or need donations for a charitable event, please contact me with the request. I cannot guarantee I can take on unpaid work but am happy to work with these events when possible. I will respond to your message within 5 business days.

Why did you change your name?

In the spring of 2019, I changed my name from “The Little Pink Bakery",” to “Gem City Bakehouse.” In March of 2020, I legally became “Gem City Bakehouse, LLC'.”

I wanted to pick a name that will grow with me and my company into the future. I choose “Gem City” because that’s Dayton’s nickname and “bakehouse” because it was more appropriate for my home bakery than “bakery” was. I hope you all will continue to love Gem City Bakehouse, LLC as much as you did The Little Pink Bakery!
